How SJA Academy Began

Myself and my wonderful wife Mattie with daughters Brigid, Clare, and Kate; and my sons John and Thomas.

Hi, I’m Ryan.

I’m an ordinary Catholic husband, father and teacher who, like many of you, has realized that the way we educate our children isn’t working and something needs to be done. After spending 13 years as a teacher and paraprofessional, and because I have studied for both my Masters Degree in Teaching (Bethel University) and Masters of Theology (St. Paul School of Divinity at St. Thomas University), I decided to take a step out in faith.

So, in 2021 I resigned from my teaching position at a high school in central Minnesota, bought 30 acres of farmland in St. Joseph, Minnesota, and moved forward in faith to build a remarkable Catholic educational experience for everyone who desires that for their children. That’s St. Joan of Arc Academy. A simple, classical, private academy that wants to help kids reach their God-given potential.

To help students love what is lovely.

To help students live virtuous lives.

To help students know, love and serve God.

And in the fall of 2022 we opened our doors to the first year — and it was wonderful! 10 wonderful families started us out on this adventure and we continue to grow. There is an energy in the community. The Holy Spirit is on the move, stirring up hearts to something more.

If you want to join us for this adventure, please contact us! We’d love to hear from you!

Raising children is a time-sensitive endeavor with eternal consequences. Let’s give them a wonderful opportunity to grow in faith, virtue, and intellect.

With Joy,

Ryan Parsons
